I’ve been blown up 2x by roadside bombs
Hearing fireworks makes me nervous

you know what you signed up for. unless you had a gun pressed to your head to sign those enlistment forms…

my hatred again, for this stupid fucking movement. I support troops, wholeheartedly, but this is ridiculous. 

As much as I disagree with the movement, I disagree more with this “you know what you signed up for” bullshit. Ya, you know when you sign the enlistment papers that there’s a strong chance you’ll go to war but theres ZERO chance you will know how much it will effect you or who you’re going to loose or the situations you will find yourself in. Recruiters don’t speak the truth. Nobody knows every MOS. Or what each deployment has in store. You don’t know if you’re gonna get out with a broken body, a broken mind or both. I watch my husband struggle every day with his PTSD and the aches and pains of a job he didn’t fully grasp when he signed up. I’ve seen the pain in his eyes when his fallen friends are brought up in passing conversations. I have watched him duck in fear of loud noises and delt with his delusions and hysteria about his buddies getting blown up. You don’t know. You won’t know until it happens to you and you stay awake with a loaded gun next to you all night just in case somebody tries to come in and harm your family even state-side.
